Who we are

ESCOBAS MENDI is the story of a family tradition rooted in broom craftsmanship and how it has endured over time.

The journey began with Pablo Jiménez, who after years as a street vendor selling products that he himself made with his own hands, settled permanently to live in Valtierra and began teaching his children the technique of making brooms.

Great-grandfather Epifanio Jiménez, one of Pablo's sons, introduced millet as a material for making brooms.

Grandma Carmen had all the brooms taken from her hands when she said, "Ladies and gentlemen, brooms that sweep by themselves."

THE EXPANSION

In order to be able to maintain a steady production of brooms throughout the year, they decided to sow and contract plots with farmers to have sufficient quality of spikes to meet the growing demand for Valtierra millet brooms.

In those years the elaboration of brooms It was done in a cave family-run and a small store owned by Epifanio's daughter's family, Carmen Jimenez and her husband Rufino Mendi , who with the help of his children managed to relaunch the production of thousands of brooms and dedicate himself exclusively to the trade.

The craft has been passionately passed down from parents to children, respecting the processes of creating brooms for over 100 years.

THE TRANSFER

The company moved to its current location at 11 Puerto Street, and two warehouses were built. This is when The Escobas Mendi company was established , producing up to 400,000 brooms per year.

The generations have continued, the trade is taught with care and thus passed from parents to children : from great-great-grandfather Pablo it passed to great-grandfather Epifanio, who passed it on to grandmother Carmen and grandfather Rufino and they to their sons José Miguel and Enrique.

The story continues today with Miguel, the last craftsman in the family, who continues to innovate every day to offer artisan brooms in demand for all types of sectors, and currently its distribution is carried out exclusively online, throughout the country, Europe and ships to several countries around the world.
